About Me

Elizabeth 鈥淏eth鈥 Ching, Associate Professor, has been an Occupational Therapist since 1985.  She has primarily treated clients with mental health issues and people with brain injuries.  Beth has been employed at 海角直播 (SMU) since 2006.  Beth has done outreach with middle and high school students from historically underrepresented groups, and she has worked regarding Interprofessional Education (IPE) with her SMU colleagues to develop the IPE Health Disparities Series curriculum.  She also held the SMU Faculty Diversity Coordinator position in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (2016-2018).  Dr. Ching has published in the Journal of Cultural Diversity, Journal of Occupational Therapy Education, Journal of Diversity and Equality in Health and Care, Open Journal of Occupational Therapy, and a chapter in press in Neurorehabilitation for the Physical Therapist Assistant (2021).  Her research interests regarding eliminating health disparities, interprofessional education, and mentoring youth of color to enter the health professions have been integral to the goal of health equity.
